Restoration plan
Most parts of the rig are intact. The old mast (a), boom (b), jib boom (c) and topgallant boom (d) are in good condition. The mainsail gaff (e) needs renewal, as do the stays, shrouds and ropes. The original pulleys/sheaves, fife rail and belaying pins (f) are damaged and need to be repaired. From the last active period, a complete, almost new set of sails (g) is ready to be put back into use.
The restoration of the hull, deck and cockpit includes:
The wooden keel (1), beams (2) and some frames (3) need to be replaced. Part of the planking (4) needs to be replaced, mainly due to drying damage. A large part of the rivets (5), possibly all of them, need to be replaced. The rudder blade (6) needs renewing. The deck beams (7) are assessed to be in good condition, parts of the deck (8) are expected to be replaced. Deck house frame and cockpit frame (9) needs repair, condition of beams and deck of the deckhouse (10) is to be further assessed. The access canopy (11), front hatch (12) and skylight (13) can be reused after minor repairs.
Restaureringsplanen
The part of the restoration that can be carried out without major material costs has already commenced and is being carried out by the members of the boat guild. This mainly concerns parts for the rigging and ship’s interior, some of which were in good condition at the time of acquisition and require only minor refurbishment. Other parts need to be renewed using the original parts as a model.
For the parts of the restoration that are to be carried out with the help of the shipyard and for materials, the boat guild has managed to find financial support, primarily in terms of funding from several foundations.
